About Us

The mission of HACI is to provide and improve the health status of the Haitians as well as providing accessibility to quality education and food security to the in-need population.

Mission:
The mission of Haitian-American Care, Inc. (HACI) is to provide and improve the health status of the less fortunate Haitians as well as providing accessibility to quality education and food security to the under served population.

Goals:
Health and Medical Services:
HACI has a mission for the health of the Haitian people. Our health goals are to prevent the spread of HIV/AIDS, and reduce the burden of pulmonary tuberculosis and malaria in the population, and to provide vision care for people who can neither pay the cost to be seen by an ophthalmologist nor adequate glasses.

Objective for Vision Care:
To reduce the problems of sight throughout the Community  that we serve by 20% by year 2030.

Earthquake Relief and Response:
Since the January 2010 Earthquake in Haiti, HACI has been assembling and deploying teams to Haiti to staff mobile clinics in Port-Au-Prince, Gresser, Léogâne, Petit-Goâve, and Jacmel. The primary objective was to provide much needed medical attention to those who had been directly affected by the earthquake. What we encountered was the need of medical services overall. There are reported cases of people being seen by a medical doctor for the first time in their life. The patients treated at the mobile clinic were serviced with a full physical exam, treatment of injuries resulted from the earthquake, and prescriptions for medication as needed.

Education Services:
Our goal for education is to encourage and keep children in school and / or prevent dropouts, reverses the course of the widespread adult illiteracy in the under served population.

Nutrition and Food Security Services:
Our goal for food security is to provide nutritious food to children in schools and the large adult population who are suffering from malnutrition and cannot afford the cost of food.

Organization history

Haitian-American Care, Inc., HACI, is a non-profit organization formed in 2008 under the direction of Wilson Dolne, a concerned Haitian native living in Boston, Massachusetts. He founded Haitian-American Care, Inc. in response to the numerous challenges that faced the Haitian community. HACI, has been an instrumental resource to Haitians in need.

HACI invited three schools to be a part of our network. Primary school Institution Mixte Laprobite located in Chatule, Léogâne, Bon Samaritan located in Kenskoff, Mixte Lenectar located in Croix de Bouquets. We provided the schools with financial support and nutritional services through donations. Medical services were also provided to the children attending the schools. Our mobile clinics made exclusive visits to network schools from 2008-2010, conducting overall medical assessments and providing health recommendations.

After the earthquake Jan. 12, 2010, HACI was one of the many organizations that responded immediately to the crisis. We conducted over 15 mobile clinic operations in inner cities and rural areas (see the services section for pictures and other details)
